why is Greek mythology so fascinating(read post for more description)

To be honest, I don't really know what draws people into Greek mythology either. It's either it's because it's an outlet for imagination or just plain interest and fascination.

can't really say its fascinating though..it is something to pick up on just in case you happen to travel there..I would like to go to rome and step into the coliseum.. and then for greece..hmm I forgot their monument there was this place..

ok agitos listen since im greek i think i know a little better compared with the other dudes here.that stuff is very complicated to be explainded right here but remember this.BACK THEN THOSE STORIES WERE BETWEEN REALITY AND IMAGINATION SOMETHING LIKE RELIGION.those stories also have a meainging.an example to give to follow for the rest of ur life(check out the glass of efklidis and the stories of Aisopos(Άισωπος/ΑΙΣΩΠΟΣ).ull find that the stories of esopos are the best even today...just trust me.plz check that out.those stories needed years to be shaped and im not gonna analyse them even though i can.that will take so much time.but the meaning of those stories is to make u a better man for society.we were calling the foregns barbarians,cause only with those stories a man can be shaped and learn to control his passion and his needs.i mean we say even today (ΠΑΝ ΜΕΤΡΟΝ ΑΡΙΣΤΟΝ)which means never ask to much and never ask too less.i mean lur at school.ok?and u must get a grade of A.then if u read a little thats not good.but if you read more than A thats bad also.so u have to read as much as its needed(plz check the cup of eyklidis.it was a cup in which u could drink water.and inside of that cup there is a line.if u put water up to the line then ull be able to drink the water.but if u out more than enough water then the water will be wasted on the floor(its the start of arxhimidis.u know the pysic which submarines uses)we have these cups even today(i have 4) and u learn that pan metron is ariston(never too much never too less) i know its sounding over sofisticated but just think a little of it.itll make u better.also ill give u an example.do u know the muth of velerofontis?well he was a great hero (mythical hero not real)and he had done many good things and he saved a village from a sfix(mythical creature).but he at some time became arrogant and he rode the icarus and he started flyingup to olympus.zeus saw his actions and he sended a tiny little fly which bites only the horses.so that fly bit the icarus and velerofontis felt down and he died.such a great hero went down only by a little fly...do u knwo the meaning of this story?beeing arrogant is bad to you and u have no right beeing arrogant cause even the slitest thing can be proved better than you.also that reminded me adonis.that dude was so beautiful and he was in love with his own image and we has staring his facing at a river all day.and someday he slept and he drunks at the river.again the bad effects of arrogance.but usa thinks that troy and achilles and odyseas r mtythical.thats wrong cause in athens museum theres is the armor of achilles(its a stunning gold armomr)and in ithaki(next to my village)weve found just recently the palace of odysea.so if u come here u must to visit those places.and dont forget that the walls of troy have been found in turkey(actually the whole land of turkey is greek but thats another story)troy was just another state of greece loike macedonia,athina,sparta,thiva etc etc.and did u know that thor(the famous norwic god)is also greek?and thats proven.and the 7 wonders of the world werent 7 they were 11!!!!!but the aglosaxon tribes envy the greeks so much.check it out(one more wonder is the agia sofia.it was bulited back in 1220 on very earthqueake place(8,8 rihter everyyear)and its taller than the empire state building.turks now have it and we r sooo mad cause it was our proud of our byzantium empire.the english media never say anything about the byzantium empire.check that out thats also cool and im not saying it cause im greek.and cause u like the civilisation of greece so much ill give you something special.ilol tell you how the alexander the great,achiles and leonidas were typing their names in greek(achiles=ΑΧΙΛΛΕΑΣ,LEONIDAS=ΛΕΟΝΙΔΑΣ,ALEXANDER=ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ Ω ΜΕΓΑΣ).and we get mad when the usa and uk media say that china invvented paper.well guess what we invented paper.theyve founded poems of sapfos(a greek woman in which saying oh my heart.and by that poem the heart=love)that poem was found in piece of paper and its 8500 years old.egypt didnt exist back then.and how is it possible to create empires and to conquer the world and to create art,literature and all those amazing stuff if u write only in stone?those stone were just signs like the signs of the road.how is it possible for omiros to write 2 epic stories?(epic is greek it means epico i say a story).well it seems that many envy greece and and they they try to present us like gays and barbarians.but we r ok with that. cause we r very proud of our country.sorry agitos i wwant to write soo much more but i have to stop at some point.

I don't know why but its fascinating I just got done watching Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the lightning stealer and it was a pretty good movie/book but its weird Ive liked mythology since I was a kid and everyone knows it(least were I live) but i wonder why is it so wide spread even among different religions and ethnic groups? and also if mythology makes such a great story why doesn't modern literature capture that unique and interesting aspect that Ancient literature could, im not saying modern literature is bad though. EDIT its cool i was able to read all that and i will check out those stories, ironically enough i have to write a 5 page paper on the battle with Achilles and hector from the Iliad for my English class...i should get started on that paper
